[Jagriti55] Preparation for session #11 > Behaviour 😛

Hi
You might be wondering, we've have talked about beliefs, feelings, images, motivation, empowerment, creativity etc  - when will we discuss the child's behaviour?
When can I get to set the child's behaviour right?
🤐
Well ... we will do that and the child will behave exactly as you want - pretty soon !

I am actually working on creating a child fixing machine.
😝

But till the time it gets working, let's work on one machine which is in our control - ME 😍
Let us understand OUR behaviour and what we can do to our behaviour
so that it helps me and the child and everybody!
You see, It has to begin with me.

Session #11 - Behaving so children Behave

1.

Without reading ahead, first watch this video. (Pl do not share this video with anybody else outside the jagriti group)

Once you have watched the video - first become aware of thoughts that came to your mind when you were watching the video. Also, there are two adults in the situation (their gender is immaterial) with different responses - what do you learn from that, which response would you like to have? Why?

2.

What does the word DISCIPLINE mean to you? What words come to your mind? What beliefs do you have about Disciplining?

3.

Think about the QUOTE by Haim G. Ginott

"I've come to a frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom (or home). It's my personal approach that creates the climate. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized."

4. Discuss this in your family:

When I call somebody LAZY he or she
is LAZIER than me But
When I call somebody RESPONSIBLE he or she is as responsible as me
